The Cöthen Park is based on an idea by Carl Friedrich von Jena. Following his instructions, the gorge, now wooded with enormous beech trees, through which the Cöthen stream meanders towards Falkenberg, was transformed into a landscape park in the 1820s. Remnants of the park, consisting of an old waterwheel and a waterfall, can be found in the source area of the picturesque stream. A fantastic area... highly recommended.

Beautiful, large shelter with a separate room for firewood. Next to the shelter is a fire pit surrounded by benches. Perfect for a break!

Beautiful path around the lake. Unfortunately, you can't always see the lake.

Between the table and the left seating area, a path leads down to a bench overlooking the lake.

The fieldstone church, built in the mid-13th century, was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt from 1691 onward. It consists of a nave and a recessed, straight-ended choir in the east. In 1727, a square, board-clad tower covered with a pyramidal roof was added to the gable roof of the nave. Two church bells hang in its belfry, one cast in 1571, the other in 1618.[1] The interior is covered by a flat ceiling. The triumphal arch between the nave and choir was removed.

The Cöthen village church was donated by Carl Friedrich von Jena in 1830. It was built as a hall church in the Neoclassical style. This was the era of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Hence, the village church is also known as the Schinkel Church. Since 2013, the "Cöthen Church" Association has been responsible for the preservation of the listed building.
