Marienburg Castle was built from 1858 for Queen Marie of Hanover and is one of the most impressive structures in the region. Until 2020, it was privately owned, then a transition to the current Marienburg Castle Foundation was pushed forward. Coupled with this was the urgently needed renovation of the castle after 160 years. The castle is being extensively renovated for 27 million euros, which is why it is currently not accessible to the public. If the construction work allows, individual parts will be opened. The renovation measures are expected to last until 2031. Impressions of the castle and news can be found here: https://www.stiftung-schloss-marienburg.de/

It is an important hub for the district and part of the regional flood protection concept, which makes a new construction technically very complex.

Rode it for the first time today. So far, the trail is clear. Some parts dug up by wild boars. Otherwise, it's good to ride.

Steep is awesome. Completely paved up to the end, at the gate of the tower. However, in the middle section of the second steep section of the S-curve combination, there is significant damage to the surface. When descending in autumn, there are a lot of leaves on the path.

The trail has been cleared and plowed, and except for one tree in the second section (a detour will follow), it's all in good condition. Use it diligently and ride the natural berms as well. It's the longest downhill trail in the area, with lots of potential and is listed as a legal hiking trail.
