About 250,000 years ago, the Rodderberg volcano reawakened. A particularly well-visible testimony to the slag eruptions is a fissure filled with lava that penetrated the slag deposits in the northern quarry. The slag was mined, and the basalt dyke remained standing due to its greater hardness. It can still be admired at this spot today. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1TKGT_rodderberg-vulkan

While many prominent figures are named after the streets on the left bank of the Rhine in Bonn, especially near the former government district (starting with the first Federal President, whose street is 'Heussallee'), here in Beuel the Rhine promenade is named after a fellow citizen of the formerly independent town of Beuel who was active as a local politician and historian: the 'Johannes-Bücher-Ufer'. The private website bonnbeuel.de states the following about him: "Johannes-Bücher was born on August 27, 1905, and died at the age of 94 on September 15, 1999. He was a deputy mayor of the former town of Beuel from 1957 to 1966, and was also a distinguished local historian."
