Charlie Cosh
October 21, 2026, Amble Town Square Sculptures

The Amble sundial was installed in 2001 with the sundial's indicator (the gnomon) being 7 metres tall. The gnomon is supported by a configuration of curved and straight steel tubes engineered to resemble waves, a direct tribute to Amble’s historical identity as a busy coal and fishing port. The base of the structure has a total diameter of 12 metres and is artfully set directly into a horizontal bed of local beach pebbles.
