Between 2018-2023, extensive reconstruction of the building and gardens took place at the Archbishop's Castle in Kromeriz. Here you can see the beautifully renovated Parliament Hall, which can be seen again in all its glory. Restorers have repaired the ceiling fresco, which is a respectable 400 square meters, and the original painting of the hall. Furthermore, the windows have been renovated and the Venetian glass chandeliers also shine beautifully. Part of the gilding on the stucco decoration was also restored. It was also possible to reactivate the centuries-old air conditioning system, which is more gentle on the paintings than current technology. And the newly renovated Castle Picture Gallery is also open. After the National Gallery, it offers the second most important collection of paintings in the Czech Republic. It exhibits dozens of works, among them, for example, paintings by Titian, van Dyck and Cranach the Elder. It is now equipped with new lighting and darkening.

The Archbishop's Castle in Kroměříž is a dominant feature of the city. Its origin and development is connected with the history of the bishopric and archbishopric of Olomouc and the vassal community of the bishops of Olomouc, which was elevated to a city in the 13th century. The original castle and the later chateau were the residence of the bishops of Olomouc and the seat of their Manx organization. The current form of the building dates from the years 1664-1695, when the castle was rebuilt under Bishop Karel Lichtenstein-Castelcorn after the Thirty Years' War according to the designs of architects Filiberto Luchese and Pietro Giovanni Tencalla.
