The lake's water level depends heavily on the season and the amount of rainfall over the past few days. In summer, the water level is usually low. Nevertheless, it's worth a look, especially since it's located directly next to the parking lot.

We took 1:45 with a 9 year old to hike this trail. The ratings are accurate and half of the trail going up is technical and requires climbing. When raining we would recommend hiking poles. It’s very beautiful and fun.

A very nice reference to the volcanic vent that can be visited nearby. A unique experience to be able to climb down into a volcano.

A spectacular view that is worth every pedal stroke on the way up. The reward comes double on clear weather days, when you can also see the islands of Pico, São Jorge and Graciosa. Be careful when descending, especially on rainy days and on a road bike.

In the middle of the road there is this sculpture in reference to the Algar do Volcão. The place itself is further down the road. The importance of Algar, however, is undeniable: it is the only visitable interior of the volcano in the world
