Summer, especially from Memorial Day to Labor Day, is the busiest time of year. Visitors can swim, paddleboard, sunbathe, skateboard, play mini-golf, or picnic under a shelter. Elephant Head is one of the main overlooks in the Chelan Butte Wildlife Area. The trails to the top are mostly uphill with over 1,000 feet of elevation gain required to get to the overlook from the trailhead. The trails are smooth and well-kept, so the hike really flys by.
