Regarding the photo with the brick construction - taken on the tour: 2026.04.23. NORTH ROUND AROUND GUSENTAL from GALLNEUKIRCHEN https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2904467273 : When I look at the highlight photo in the old stone construction style, my heart aches. So much toil to build it with the means and possibilities of those times.... and now.... a piece of the beautiful village scenery has been lost forever!!! Having to live in such old walls is the other side... which also comes with many disadvantages. Approving and building a new building a little way off would have been the much better solution in my opinion. The Danube is the pulsating heart of Linz – it shapes the cityscape, the economy, and the feeling of life of the people of Linz like hardly anything else. However, the fact that Linz is now a modern „city on the river“ was a long way from a grey industrial location to a cultural metropolis. The Linz Danube bank (especially the „Kulturmeile“) is architecturally impressive, especially when it is illuminated in the evening.

Lake Plesching near Linz is a popular destination and offers ideal conditions for cyclists. A flat, approximately two-kilometer-long circular route runs directly along the water and is perfect for leisurely rides or family outings. The lake is located near the Danube Cycle Path and is easily accessible via lakeside paths, making it a worthwhile detour for touring cyclists. For more ambitious cyclists, a variety of mountain bike trails start nearby at Pfenningberg. With seating areas, restaurants, playgrounds, and well-maintained lawns for sunbathing, Lake Plesching is also an ideal spot for a relaxing break during a bike tour.

The Steyregg Railway Bridge crosses the Danube between Linz and Steyregg and is part of the Summerau Railway. It was built between 1870 and 1873 and replaced in 1924/25 with a new truss superstructure, while the old piers were retained. The approximately 451-meter-long bridge was raised by approximately 2.25 meters and reinforced between 1976 and 1979 during the construction of the Abwinden-Asten power plant. It remains in operation today, and a double-track expansion of the line is planned.
