July 15, 2026, Pickering Beach Waterfront Trail

The Waterfront Trail runs along Pickering Beach where you can enjoy sweeping views across Lake Ontario. Watch sailboats coming and going from Frenchman's Bay Marina and, on a clear day, look out for the Toronto skyline on the horizon. The sandy beach and waterfront park also make a great spot for a picnic or a quick dip in summer.

June 11, 2026, Devil's Den Trail

Devil’s Den Trail is one of the main routes in Heber Down Conservation Area. The trail passes through shaded ravine terrain, crosses bridges and boardwalks, and leads to the area known as Devil’s Den, a narrow valley once tied to local folklore. The story goes that this area was once used as a layover spot for horse thieves in the late 19th century, and later crossed by a railway bridge whose concrete remnants still remain today. With steeper grades and a more enclosed feel than some of the park’s other paths, this trail is ideal for a more rugged and immersive walk through the valley.

This paved lot is the main access point for the trails in Heber Down Conservation Area, with plenty of parking and washrooms just off Cochrane Street. From here, you can quickly reach the wooded paths, bridges, and the steeper terrain leading into Devil’s Den, making this a popular starting point for longer loops through the conservation area. There is a parking fee of around $6 per vehicle, or it is waived with a CLOCA membership pass.

May 18, 2026, Oshawa Creek

Oshawa Creek is a beautiful waterway that flows 50 kilometres from its headwaters in the Oak Ridges Moraine all the way to its mouth here at Lake Ontario. For centuries, it has been an important navigation route for Indigenous peoples and settlers, helping to shape the commercial, agricultural, and residential development of what is now the City of Oshawa. Today, it’s best known for the trout and salmon that migrate through its waters every spring and fall, making it a fantastic spot for both nature lovers and anglers.
