Wilhelmsthal Castle was built between 1743 and 1761 as a summer pleasure palace for Landgrave Wilhelm VIII and is considered one of Germany's most important Rococo castles. Particularly well-known are the magnificent Rococo interiors and the extensive castle park with water features. Today, the castle ensemble is one of the most important cultural monuments in North Hesse, and you can visit it as part of guided tours. The magnificent park, on the other hand, can be visited all year round and free of charge. The church in Heckershausen is centrally located in the village center and has a medieval choir tower, the oldest bell of which dates from 1510. The current nave was rebuilt in 1886 after the previous church had become too small; also noteworthy are the restored stained glass windows and the Bosch organ. If it is open, just take a look inside.

Here it goes down really steeply into the place where the brakes have to work well.

Let's keep the church in the village. We all know this saying. Well, here in Ahnatal-Heckershausen, the church has remained in the middle of the village. But not just as a building, but also as a lively church community, where dedicated, imaginative women and men get all sorts of things done. Surely you will find something for yourself too.
