The Peklo National Nature Monument connects two villages - Dubice and Zahrádky. It is a route for hikers, which leads through wonderful nature. The trail accompanies visitors through local beauties in the valley of the Robečský stream, including a ruin and bizarre rock formations. And the start of the hike, of course, at Zahrádky Chateau, where you can also park.

Zahrádky Castle (Neugarten) is an impressive complex in the town of the same name. Unfortunately, a large part of the roof was destroyed in a fire. The extensive grounds, with their magnificent castle park, are situated above the Peklo Gorge, also known as "Hell's Valley." The town offers good dining options and places to buy groceries.

There are several nice beaches around Mácha Lake, but this one is one of my favorites. I recommend a visit!

The name Mácha's Lake came into use at the end of the 19th century in connection with the Czech public's celebration of the memory of Karel Hynek Mácha. He visited here six times, the first time in 1832. He set his most famous lyric-epic composition May here, part of which also took place at the nearby ruins of Bezděz Castle. On the northern shore of the lake you would find the so-called Jarmila's Rock, where the heroine of the poem ended her life by jumping into the water. The name Mácha's Lake did not officially begin to be used until many years after the post-war deportation of the Germans. The official designation came in 1961.

Mácháč Lake is the largest pond in the Liberec Region and the eighth largest in the Czech Republic. It reaches a depth of 12 m, but the entrance to the water is gradual. This is certainly why Mácháč is a popular tourist destination. It was founded in 1366 by Charles IV. Today it is used mainly for recreation.
