A half-timbered building (commonly known as a half-timbered house) is a building whose walls are built using the half-timbering technique. The beams, laid horizontally on top of each other, are joined at the corners by various types of carpentry ties. Originally, unhewn or slightly hewn logs were used, only later did edged beams gain ground, guaranteeing better structure cohesion. A typical element of timber buildings is the clay filling in the joints between the beams, which was treated with a lime coating on the surface. A log house is a type of wooden house of smaller dimensions, usually without gaps in the joints.

DEVIL'S HEADS From Klácelka, the blue sign leads us a few hundred meters down through the pine forest to the road, which then leads us up a steep winding climb to the giant Devil's Heads. The Devil's Heads are 9 m high rock reliefs of devil's heads carved into sandstone blocks, created by Václav Levý in the years 1841-1846. In terms of dimensions, this is a completely unique work by Czech standards. They are the second largest head reliefs in the world, larger only in Mount Rushmore. The reliefs are currently already quite damaged by the weather and especially by human indiscipline in climbing them. In 2011, the owner had the pine forest in front of the reliefs cut down, so the heads can be seen from the I/9 road.
