It was originally called Volcán Fuencaliente. In 1677/78, it erupted on the feast day of Saint Anthony and was renamed Volcán de San Antonio. The volcano lies at an elevation of 632 meters above sea level. At its base, it has an outer diameter of approximately 1 kilometer. Its fairly round crater is about 150 meters deep.

The San Antonio volcano last erupted in 1677 and can be visited including a very informative information center for only 8 euros per person (as of spring 2025). The information center offers a nice overview of volcanism on La Palma and also takes into account the eruption of Tajogaite in 2021 - highly recommended.

Nice little information center. It costs a bit but it includes parking, entry to the center, toilets, etc. The path up to the volcanic crater is also definitely worth taking. Great view of the coast.
