The Ansabère Huts (Cabanes d'Ansabère) are as charming and laid-back as it gets. These little stone huts are used by local shepherds making fresh mountain cheese all summer long, and if you're lucky, you can even buy some right on the spot!

Lake Ansabère it's a pure alpine chill into a beautiful high valley. You’ve got this quiet, clear mountain lake sitting right beneath the crazy jagged limestone needles of the Ansabère peaks, with sheep and horses just hanging out on the green grass nearby. It’s an dream spot to kick off your boots, pull out your lunch, and just relax by the water while watching the peaks mirror on the lake.

Beautiful summit with a huge view - only for mountaineers, short chimney climbing grade 3, then long scrambling section

A fairly difficult hike when you're not trained (which was my case) but not impossible if you take your time and go at your own pace. On the other hand, it's a very beautiful hike! The landscapes are magnificent. There are two parking lots, the Masousa parking lot and another higher up which saves 45 minutes, but the road is very bumpy.

29 km of climbing from Laruns but acceptable gradients for cycling. The pass, in addition to a superb view on the French side, is a place of Spanish commerce with shops and restaurants.
