Beautiful cycle path, initially wide, later narrower but also less busy, always next to the canal, past some locks which you can also admire in action now and then.

The Eckwersheim TGV accident on the afternoon of November 14, 2015, was the most serious accident involving a TGV since the French national railway company SNCF began operating in 1981, and the first with a significant number of fatalities. Eleven people died when a test train derailed at excessive speed on a curve during a high-speed test run on the yet-to-be-opened eastern, second construction phase of the new LGV Est Européenne high-speed line. At the time of the derailment, the train was traveling at 265 km/h instead of the permitted 176 km/h. A memorial plaque and stone monuments were erected to commemorate the victims.
