COMPANY DIARY Pt 1 My trusted friend and I ventured on this path in search of Frodo and company. But nothing. The first part of the trail is pretty tough, 1.5km with a 300m difference in altitude. A massacre. A path hosted by valleys and a few woods. Very interesting for the photographic aspect. We found enough travelers but all benevolent. I recommend practicing the trail in spring and late summer.
Stop in the large Pianezze car park. The path immediately starts steeply and continues up to the asphalt road (30 minutes for a difference in altitude of 290 metres). You descend towards the remains of an old chairlift and with a semi-flat path you go around Mount Cesen with views towards the northern side. Steep climb up to the Cesen cross and descent to the Mariech hut. Descent following the signs. If clear, the panorama is 360 degrees.
The route runs almost entirely through meadows and pastures, where the typical Prealps limestone emerges, stratified and fractured. Few trees, except on the Belluno side and no watercourses. Frequent stops are recommended to simultaneously observe and enjoy the views from the Venetian lagoon to the Dolomites.
