May 29, 2025, 🌊 Bodenmaiser Schätze (bo67) 🌲

For this year's Father's Day tour, @TOMate decided to go on a hike closer to home due to the weather.❣️ The Bodenmaiser Schätze Tour (bo67) starts at the town hall and leads up through the Riesloch valley before heading across the Schönebene to the Silberberg! ⛰️👌After a short stay at the summit, we descended to the valley station and admired the new coaster... It's not open yet, and a ride might be fun, but this steel structure on the Silberberg looks simply awful in my opinion 🙈 Nevertheless, we had a lovely Father's Day, even if the weather wasn't quite up to par at times 😅🌧️⛅

Day 5, "move" from the old town in Cham to Zwiesel/Rabenstein. Along the way, Bodenmais offers a good starting/finishing point for a hike. Today, it was essentially "Bo67 - Bodenmais Treasures," with Rißloch Waterfalls at the beginning and Silberberg on the last part of the route. In between, there was just a lot of forest, lush greenery, and it was almost meditative to hike through the forest with walking sticks. Those walking sticks were a great idea, by the way... 🤭 Seriously! The first 4 kilometers are tough: climbing up the Rißloch Gorge is a lot of fun and also quite steep towards the end - we had the highest waterfalls in the Bavarian Forest today, so I'm not going to start a waterfall challenge there. 😉 After that, you stay at roughly the same altitude almost the whole time, making for a very relaxed hike. Towards the end, there's another highlight with Silberberg and a great view and a swing. Today, Petra was on the swing, with a panoramic view. On the way down, we saw the rest of the mine and the "mid-station" of the cable car. Back in Bodenmais, we did some shopping, and at 6 p.m. we checked into the second – truly gorgeous – vacation apartment. 😊 (Komoot kept crashing 🙄. We averaged about 4.3 km/h today. We'll see if everything works tomorrow and I don't have to keep checking to see if the navigation has paused.)

Very nice hike on the Arber in optimal conditions with the opportunity to stop off at the "Erzbergwerk Bodenmais" inn. Very nice view of Bodenmais from the Silberberg. Unfortunately the inn is closed at 4 p.m., so we have to go up there again. LG Frostbeule

A super beautiful tour. The Riesloch Falls are recommended any time of year.

Today we hiked our final loop from Bodenmais. We're happy to follow the Komoot recommendation "Bodenmais Treasures." 🌞👍 It was very hot, but there were some shady sections. The main highlights are the Riesloch Waterfalls, the Silberberg, and the old mine. Mining has been documented here since 1463. It is assumed that silver was mined even before that. Mining has ceased in 1952, at least 500 years after the closure. ⛏️⚒️ Another highlight are the views that offer hikers all around. You won't go hungry either. Plenty of ripe blueberries and blackberries kept us going. 🫐🫐😋 I've added subtitles to the pictures again. We're now driving past our son and his family again and then driving towards Munich to "our" lake. Hopefully, I'll be heading home tomorrow without any traffic jams. Best wishes and have a nice weekend, 🍀🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

A very nice hike today took us from Bodenmais to the Riesloch waterfalls, along the gorge. The path through the gorge was quite challenging, especially for the dogs; they had to climb a lot and walk through the water quite a bit. The Riesloch waterfalls are absolutely worth seeing. From the waterfalls, our hike continued to the Silberberg, which was simply magnificent up there and the view was perfect. From the Silberberg, we went along the red earth to the mine and back to Bodenmais. A highly recommended hike, it was great fun, the dogs are now great.

Today we decided to hike again, we hiked 2 Bodenmaiser highlights. First we went from our accommodation Haus Christa through the village, then past the valley station of the Silberbergbahn to the middle station. Here you have the choice of which path to take to the Silberberg summit, either the comfortable path or the summit trail. You can see which way we chose in the photos 😉. Taken a few photos at the top of the Silberberg summit cross and then continue in the direction of the Rissloch waterfalls. From there then back to Bodenmais briefly in 2 supermarkets then to our obligatory liquid intake in the ice cream café Dolce Vita and the tour ended there. It was a nice tour where we were able to experience 2 highlights at the same time 👍.

Already spent the first day of vacation on this great hike. Unfortunately, the mine tunnel was already closed when we got there. We'll have to go back. Apart from a few stretches over gravel, the path was very challenging and you really had to be careful where you stepped. The waterfalls were the first highlight and the Silberberg was also worth conquering. There were beautiful views over the Bavarian Forest. Really unusual for the Sauerlander, who is plagued by bark beetles. Thumbs up for the hike and day 1 of vacation.
