Excursion to the Beniamino Farello bivouac Very simple excursion for the first part (up to the Cai Città di Arona refuge). it starts from loc. Ponte Campo, where there is a car park run by some young people (variable cost around € 4). Once parked, cross the bridge and immediately turn right along the fields and a fairly marked path that avoids the longer turn of the road. The path rejoins the carriage road after about twenty minutes and continues along the craggy and sometimes dirt road. The carriage road proceeds with some hairpin bends that quickly bring you up, then it proceeds flat and flanks the entire ravine created by the stream (very suggestive). arrived in the internal valley you come to a crossroads, where you turn right in the direction of the refuge, cross the stream and arrive on the flat up under the refuge. Looking at the refuge, go around it to the left (water fountain) and begin the climb into the woods, from here proceed following the signs for Lago Bianco. This stretch crosses a larch forest with an undergrowth of blueberry plants (if it's the right season (late July early August), I recommend you waste some time and have a feast). Once out of the woods, a fairly steep stretch begins that quickly leads up to the Bianco lake which goes around on the left. Already from this point the bivouac is visible at the top, but there are still 2 rises to be tackled, the first immediately after having bypassed and passed the lake. The second is located just after passing the plateau above the first rise. The plateau is initially green and you pass it by staying on the left (further upstream) following the sign "BIVACCO" painted on a large boulder. Soon the path passes on a scree where you have to follow sporadic little men (always keeping the left) up on the last rise that is faced a little "by feeling" following cairns at times not very visible. Finally we arrive at the bivouac; it is equipped with 9 beds with blankets and pillows but if necessary there are also 11-13 people. there are no stoves, nor running water which must be taken from a small lake 10 minutes away (stagnant water to share with the ibex) for the most fussy eaters a filter. Enchanting view and impressive starry night.
