Carmarthen Castle

Highlight • Historical Site

Carmarthen is a small town that is thought to be the oldest in Wales. One of the most notable features of the town is the Roman fort, which dates to around 75 AD. The town’s medieval castle is also interesting. History aside, you find plenty of places to eat and drink, shops, and accommodation, making it a great place for a pit-stop or an overnight stay.

Llansteffan Beach

Highlight • Beach

Llansteffan has been described as one of Wales’ best kept secrets. A sort of Never Never land known only to locals. Once you’ve experienced the magical beauty of a sunset over the castle above the River Tywi, you will wonder why more people haven't experienced this wonderful place for themselves.

Llansteffan Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

Arguably one of the most stunning locations in Wales. Although ruined, the castle retains its power to intimidate – especially when you approach its massive twin-towered gatehouse, built in around 1280 and still looming large. The hilltop can only be approached on foot. A pathway leads up to the headland, where the climb is rewarded with superb views of the estuary and the surrounding countryside.

Poet, writer and broadcaster Dylan Thomas lived at the iconic Boathouse in Laugharne. The Boathouse terrace offers wonderful views of the Taf estuary and the Gower beyond. Prebooking is not required but due to its size only 12 visitors are allowed inside the house at any one time.
There is limited seating in the outside tearoom which can be accessed externally.
