The Bayehon is a torrent, as it is in the book. He significantly influenced and formed the landscape around him. Apparently peacefully, the rippling water meanders through the rocks of the Ardennes. At first you can only guess at its sheer power. From the village of Longfaye you follow its course through the dense forest. A natural path lies at your feet, the river murmurs softly next to you. As the pebbles slowly give way to roots and you climb a hill, the noise gets louder and louder. Then finally you see it, the mighty waterfall of the Bayehon: from a height of nine meters, the water falls into the depths, where over time a deep pool has formed in the stone. This place is ideal for a nice break.
Your further way leads you past old fir trees through the mysterious moor to the sources of the Bayehon. You cross the national road and soon find yourself in a landscape characterized by peat bog and its typical flora with rush grass, gentian and blueberry. A unique biotope that is very rarely found in Central Europe. On the high plateau you slowly move through an irresistible and fascinating natural landscape that will impress you and awaits you with new discoveries and perspectives at every corner. Soon you will reach the picturesque Ardennes village of Longfaye again and thus your starting point.

We get out and the air is chilly.
The morning dew is still on the grass,
When we start, full of energy and in step.
Through forests of deciduous trees 🌳 and pines 🌲 along the winding path,
We walk quietly, the view surprises.
Mosses, glistening in the soft light, …

It's better to walk in the opposite direction I was walking, as this will give you the most beautiful sections and the waterfall at the end.
Great hike along the Bayehon River and through the Belgian raised bog! Over narrow, rooty, and rocky paths.
We finished …
