All Saints' Waterfalls in the Black Forest

Hiking

From the Allerheiligen monastery ruins, you hike through unspoilt mixed forests and on narrow rocky paths along the largest, natural waterfall in the northern Black Forest. The Lierbach eats its way through the granite here in Allerheiligen and falls a total of 66 meters down.

The 100 meter high walls of the gorge shine deep green from the moist, shiny moss. There are many legends about the monastery ruins and the unspoilt mountain forest of the gorge slope, some of which you can learn about along the way.
From the angel's pulpit above the falls there is an unobstructed view through the gorge.

Finally, a wider path leads back to the monastery courtyard over many steps. The last section of the upper gorge is also accessible with a pram. The national park team regularly offers guided hikes along the waterfalls.

All Saints' Abbey ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

The remains of the monastery church form the most impressive part of the monastery ruins. Its cross-shaped floor plan is clearly visible in the still-standing walls, which display architectural styles ranging from late Romanesque to late Gothic.

According to legend, a girl on the run here was carried by angels across the gorge and was thus saved.

All Saints Waterfalls

Highlight • Waterfall

I recommend hiking the All Saints Falls from the bottom to the top; they look more spectacular this way, as you always have the falls in front of you. They are particularly impressive in spring and after prolonged rains; after extended dry periods, they are far less beautiful. In winter, the path, if passable at all, is often icy and not without danger. In summer, it is pleasantly cool here.

JUST HIKE
December 29, 2023, Kleine Allerheiligen-Runde🏞🏚

I had actually planned an extensive hike at the Hornisgrinde and a visit to the mermaid. Unfortunately, after arriving, I decided to take this short walk nearby. The reason for this was a fairly "stiff breeze" and visibility of less than 50m. Maybe another time🤷🏻‍♂️

All Saints Waterfall is a very beautiful natural wonder with a lovely circular trail. Due to limited parking, you should arrive early on weekends. I started my circular trail at the All Saints Chapel and enjoyed the consistently beautiful view of the waterfall from the top. When I arrived at the main entrance, there were already lots of tourists milling around; I was so lucky to have arrived early. I then walked up the many steps and always had the waterfall in front of me. It's easy to walk because there are railings to hold on to. Once at the top, there are free, well-maintained restrooms and something to satisfy your hunger ☕🥮🍦🍪 and thirst 🧃🥤 This circular trail is highly recommended 👌🏼🫶🏼

After we had already driven so far, we thought we would look at the Allerheiligen waterfalls as a round and it was really worth it 🤩

Unfortunately, the subsequent tour 13 km down to Oppenau could not be recorded due to GPS problems 😐

The most beautiful and highest natural waterfalls in the Black Forest

Our 3rd day in the Black Forest. After I was in Ottenhöfen with the noblewomen in the morning (the Göga was waiting or looking for accommodation and something to eat) we set off together in Aller Heiligen to the waterfalls and the monastery ruins. Perfect timing: we had great light! 🤩 It was brilliant... I really wanted to go there after I couldn't attend the @Patrick Göser Komoot meeting. Afterwards we drove back to Sasbachwalden via the Black Forest High Road, Seibelseckle and Mummelsee with another great sunset. 😍🥰 Gorgeous!

The All Saints Waterfalls are not far from our hike along the romantic mill tour around Ottenhöfen and allow us to experience a fascinating view of a very special natural spectacle. https://www.black-forest-tourism.info/attractions/allerheiligen-wasserfaelle-b9918d8834 Above the waterfalls, the hiking trail leads us along the rather small Grindenbach to the former Premonstratensian monastery of Gothic architecture, founded 1191 - 1196, and allows us to fondly remember the northern Black Forest by visiting the ruins, a wonderful conclusion to our two day tours. https://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info/ariats/klosterruine-allerheiligen-bd547c30ae
