Alpine pastures in the Ellmautal

Four alpine pastures in one go: On just one hike, you discover the diversity of the alpine pastures in Großarltal.

The tour starts at the end of the Ellmautal valley (a side valley of Großarl) at the Grundlehen parking lot. You can reach the starting point by hiking bus or by car. From here, choose the hiking trail to Filzmoosalm. On the way there, you will pass a power and rest spot, which is perfect for a short break and where you can refill your water bottle with the best spring water. Filzmoosalm is located in an untouched natural landscape and is an ideal stopover for the onward hike.

The path now leads you along the Salzburger Almenweg over the so-called “Fleischgraben” to the Berggasthof Loosbühelalm. There, in addition to the classic Jause (snack), you can also strengthen yourself with various warm dishes. Without any major incline, you then hike on to Weißalm. Once you arrive, you enjoy the breathtaking panorama. You follow the Salzburger Almenweg further to Ellmaualm, the last alpine pasture on this round. From here you can even see the Hochkönig. Well-fortified and rested, you finally stroll relaxed downhill back to the starting point of the tour.

If you have less time or prefer a shorter route, you can descend into the valley from any alpine pasture and thus return to the starting point. Since you can individually extend or shorten the tour, it is also a good choice for families or in case of rather bad weather.
