Cycling

The approximately 110 kilometer long Remstal cycle path takes you to great pleasures between Weinstadt-Endersbach and Aalen. Beer gardens, inns and farm shops provide you with the strength you need to master the total 800 meters of altitude. You start at Endersbach train station and initially make a loop until you almost come back to Endersbach.

Past vineyards and through the foothills of Stuttgart you reach the banks of the Neckar. The Rems flows into this and shows you the way. In Waiblingen, there is a shady beer garden waiting for you on the Swan Island if you are already thirsty. Then you cycle partly directly on the Rems, then again a little further to the east. You pass through several cities and towns with many cozy inns and cafes. In Plüderhausen you can even treat yourself to delicious fish at the fishing ponds.

From Lorch, the Remstal cycle path climbs and takes you via Schwäbisch Gmünd up to Essingen. From the highest point you can enjoy a wonderful view back into the Remstal. The origin of the Rem is a few kilometers outside of Essingen. But for you it goes down to Aalen, where you will find many places to stop and have a connection to the train network.

Vogelmühle (Remsmühle)

Highlight • Monument

The historic Vogelmühle (Bird Mill) is idyllically situated on the Rems River within the Lower Rems Valley landscape and nature reserve. It was built in 1864 by miller Lauer, along with a bakehouse. Until the late 1970s, flour was milled and bread sold at the mill, which had been acquired by Karl Vogel in the 1930s. In 1985, the property was auctioned off, and the city of Waiblingen won the bid. The Waiblingen municipal utilities took over the former mill building to harness its hydropower for electricity generation. The building and the turbine were extensively renovated.

Here we pause regularly. The children can play in the water. The rest area is quiet and usually little frequented.

Where else can you find such a great stone bridge with cobblestones? It's even car-free.

The renatured Rems shows off one of its most beautiful sides here. Whether alone or with children – paradise with distinction.

This section of the Remstal Cycle Path is extremely beautiful. The river has been partially renatured, there are several lakes for digging bathing and the Rems is sometimes so shallow that you can dunk well in the feet.

The 21 works on the sculpture trail were carved from Böbinger storm wood by the artist Hildegard Diemer. They are all along the “adventure bike path”.

May 9, 2024,Von Aalen auf den Remsradweg bis zum Remseck
By car to Aalen. From here we always cycle along well-developed cycle lanes through Aalen. In Essingen we then took the Rems cycle path. The route to Remseck is asphalted except for a few places and is easy to cycle on. We then went back to Aalen by 🚂

Nice tour, nice cities and Koomot also took part😁

By train to Aalen, then to the Rems source and then the Rems valley to Neckarrems and on to Stuttgart. The altitude is incorrect, it should be less.

Showing Translation

Easy route, on which I sometimes lost my way. Luckily, I kept coming across the blue wave when I orientated myself in the direction of Rems. There is a nice beer garden at the mouth.

The Remstalradweg was wonderful to roll along, not strenuous at all, even for an old grump like me

Beautiful tour, with perfect cycling weather.
