The Salzburg Festival is the world's most important festival for opera, music and drama - and is now over 100 years old. The festival is as much a part of Salzburg as the Prater is of Vienna. Every year in July and August the city shines in its brightest splendor. The trademarks of the festival are the Jedermann on the Domplatz, exemplary Mozart and Strauss performances, as well as a diverse and top-class drama, opera and concert program. Around 250,000 people attend the more than 200 events every year.
On this tour you can also catch a touch of festival glamour outside of the festival. During a walk through the streets of Salzburg you will find exciting locations, names of famous artists and of course the most beautiful photo spots.
Along the route you will discover historical locations and venues such as the Mozarteum or the Salzburg State Theater. Other stops include the Residence, a symbol of Salzburg's history as a city of music, and the Cathedral Square, one of the most impressive theater stages in Europe. If you still have enough energy in your legs, you can extend your walk to Leopoldskron Palace, where Max Reinhardt lived and founded the festival.
