Why mess when you can also mess? A total of 14 peaks lie in front of you on this almost marathon-long route. So it's no wonder that there are 2,000 vertical meters on the ascent and 2,500 on the descent. The 14 Summit Trail is one of the top 3 trail running routes in Saalbach Hinterglemm. So that you can manage this monster in time without having to wander through the terrain with the headlamp, the Schattberg X-Press takes an early special tour to the summit world Monday to Friday between 7.30 a.m. and 7.40 a.m.
Before you really let it rip, you should equip yourself with enough water. There are no huts on the trail and the only source of water is a stream after 20 kilometers, which can also be dry in summer. In the event that the condition or the weather does not play along, there is a possibility of aborting halfway across the Lindingalm.
With the first ascent of the Schattberg X-Press you have already arrived in the middle of the dreamy summit world. Sonnspitze, Mittagskogel, Zehentner Stange and how they are not all called. Like a rollercoaster ride, the route takes you steeply to the mountain peaks and then down again at a rapid pace. A special highlight: the Geißstein, the highest grass mountain in Europe!
If you have enough grains, you will of course take all 14 peaks with you. If the strength decreases towards the end, you can also save yourself the extra summit ascents. If you are there in time for the last valley run, the Reiterkogelbahn cable car takes you down to Hinterglemm. That saves 400 meters in altitude and around two kilometers. Either way, at the end of the day you have earned yourself a huge schnitzel or a huge pan of Kasspatzn!

Comments
During the warm-up, I noticed that I had sore glutes and hamstrings. Despite this, I was still in the lead up to the Schattberg, but I suffered from start to finish.
I had a mental and physical meltdown at the 4h and 5h stages. I never got into zone 3 (40/40/20% zone 1-3) until Schattberg. …
