Hiking

Some hiking trails are beautiful, but you can't describe them, because the main thing is nature and the overall impression. This is also the case with this circular hiking trail, which the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV) has signposted in the Bergisches Land near Oberodenthal with the A4 sign.

Oberodenthal is a group of small localities and courts east of Odenthal in the direction of the Große Dhünntalsperre and Kürten. Oberodenthal includes the Odenthal districts of Bömberg, Bömerich, Bülsberg, Busch, Feld, Grimberg, Großgrimberg, Hüttchen, Klasmühle, Kümps, Landwehr, Neschen, Pistershausen, Scheuren and Schmeisig. You can start the A4 circular hiking trail e.g. at the hiking car park in Klasmühle.

In Klasmühle, it is worth taking a look at the Heilig Kreuz branch church in the Scherfbachtal nature reserve. The small chapel was completed in 1948. The name Klasmühle was derived from the first name Klas (short form of Klaus or Nikolaus), so it was a mill that belonged to a Klas. The first documentary mention comes from November 14th 1347. In the corresponding document Johann Köhler and his son-in-law Gerhard von der Mühle are listed as residents. For the year 1399 we learn that Klasmühle belongs to the Scherf court. The Klasmühle was Altenberg's ban mill.

Via Scheurener Straße it goes up to Scheuren. Here is an old water tower, built by the citizens in 1928, later no longer needed. The citizens of Neschen have meanwhile renovated the water tower with their own efforts and made it the center of the village - with benches, an oversized chess game and modern LED lighting.

The circular hiking trail leads via the hamlets of Busch and Keffermich into the Scherfbachtal and further into the valley of the Rosauer Bach. You walk through Oberscheid and then come back to Klasmühle through Schallemich and Scherf.

Liesenberger Mill

Highlight • Monument

The Liesenberger Mühle is located in the Scherfbachtal valley on a side road leading north from Scherfbachtalstraße, halfway between Höffe and Bechen.
The mill was built in 1857 as a bone mill. Animal bones were ground here into bone meal. Later, it was also used as a grain mill.

My recording has been deleted. As a result, the data is not correct. In the beginning it was very asphalt-heavy and later a path was laid through trees. Furthermore, later I ran a bit differently to minimize asphalt.

Finally found time again for a nice round and that even with such wonderful weather🌞❄️. We decided on a circular hiking trail, which the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV) in the Bergisches Land near Oberodenthal has signposted with the A4 sign.

I started in Klasmühle from a hiking car park, which is right next to the chapel. From here it goes through the village up to Scheurener Str., which you follow for a long time. In Scheuren you turn right and go down a forest path into the valley and then back up to Busch. After a short ascent over a …

Rose Monday 🥳🎉🍬's alternative program:
This A4 tour can be started from several hiking car parks. We decided to park on Scheurener Straße. This also had the advantage that the least attractive section could be completed right at the beginning. Unfortunately, you walk almost 2 kilometers along a road there, but it is not very busy.
After that, the path …

What do you do when you've finished your hike and still have work to do? Reduce your overtime a bit, sleep in a little longer, hit the gym, and simply move your cardio workout outdoors into the sunshine. 😉

So I start in Klasmühle in the Scherfbach Valley, take a lovely field path to Schallemich and into the Käsbach Valley, …

You always think you know almost every stone in your hometown by now... Well, I was proven wrong 😏 Since I was too lazy to plan a route today, I let Komoot suggest one. Great paths over beautiful hills and a few nice trails. Highly recommended for hiking 👍🏻

Today again shot a wonderful round in the Scherfbachtal near Odenthal.
In addition to some road sections, there were also many narrow paths to compensate. Some paths are currently but also overgrown. Therefore, a few meters more came to the planned tour.
