The GONSO Trail follows the trail of the bike marathon around Albstadt. Shaded climbs and scenic descents mingle with cross-country sections through the magnificent natural surroundings of the Swabian Alb. Two places to stop for refreshments are the restaurant at Degerfeld Airport and the Zollersteighof, located directly along the route. Other cozy restaurants in the nearby villages invite you to take a break.

The tour begins at the Zollern-Alb-Halle in Tailfingen and takes you up the first climb to the heights of the Schlossberg. From here, it's not far to the Albstadt Bike Park if you fancy a few downhill laps. Afterward, you continue pedaling towards Degerfeld Airport.

The exit continues past the Linkenboldshöhle cave and continues uphill towards Raichberg and the Zollersteighof. If the elevation gain and mileage of this tour aren't enough for you, you can take a short detour from here to the Zeller Horn, from where you can catch fantastic views of Hohenzollern Castle.

Behind the beautifully nestled Eyach spring, the Burgfelder Steige awaits with a rapid descent. A final climb up the Lerchenfeld brings you to the finish line in Bullentäle, where you'll feel like a marathon champion even without an audience.

Linkenbold Cave

Today, following the trails of the Albstadt Bike Marathon, I rode the signposted route no. 3, including a few additional gimmicks.
It goes over the rugged plateaus of the Swabian Alb between approximately 700 and 950 meters in altitude.
The best part is the section along the Albtrauf ridge. The view of the Zollernalb plain and Hohenzollern Castle is breathtaking.
