HeimatSpur Großer Dauner

The Großer Dauner lives up to its name: At almost 29 kilometers, it is the longest HeimatSpur and a tour for everyone who likes to be out and about with endurance and wants to enjoy peace and nature above all.

The circular hike leads through the extensive landscape around Daun and combines large forest areas with open meadows and fields. Wider forest and farm tracks characterize large parts of the route, with new views of the surroundings opening up again and again. Instead of many individual sights, the focus here is on the experience of being on the move itself.

The route leads through Gemünden, Pützborn, Neunkirchen, Steinborn, Rengen and Boverath. In between, long forest sections alternate with open passages and characterize the quiet nature of the tour.

Towards the end, the hike becomes particularly impressive: with the Weinfelder Maar, the HeimatSpur reaches one of the most famous spots in the Vulkaneifel. From there, it continues towards the Dronketurm and finally back to the Gemündener Maar.

Anyone looking for a longer hike, where the focus is not on the next highlight but on the route and the nature experience, will find a tour with its very own charm in the Großer Dauner.
