The Lunigiana spoiled us with mid-summer weather and magnificent impressions at the foot of the Appenino Tosco-Emiliano. 🥰 As it turned out, the stage from Pontremoli to Aulla was the only one where we didn't encounter a single other pilgrim along the way - we thought we would have the Via Francigena in this …

The place we stayed at in Pontremoli last night was a well-restored medieval building. So far on the Via Francigena, we have seen numerous medieval buildings: not all look as great as our BnB. Many looked abandoned and started to crumble down.
