Challenge Roth Cycling Route

Are you ready to follow in the footsteps of triathlon legends? This road cycling tour takes you on the original circuit of the famous DATEV Challenge Roth. It is a route that not only shines with its sporting history but also leads you scenically through the heart of the Franconian Jura and the Middle Franconian Lake District.

Right after the start at the parking lot in Greding, the first real test of endurance awaits you: the Kalvarienberg. It starts steeply and immediately challenges your rhythm before the incline becomes uniformly flatter at the top near the military facility. Once you have reached the highest point at 558 meters, you can enjoy the first adrenaline rush on the subsequent descent to Obermässing.

A special goosebump moment awaits you at the Main-Danube Canal near Hilpoltstein. If you let your gaze wander west towards the lock, you will see the grounds of the legendary swim start – here the water boils once a year when thousands of athletes set off on the course. Shortly thereafter, you can build up real speed on the perfect asphalt stretch between Wallesau and Laffenau. The road is made for you to get into aero position and enjoy the whirring of the chain. Afterwards, it goes back to Greding in an undulating manner.
