A fine view out over Lough Ennell from the eastern shore. From here you can look all the way over to "Lilliput" shoreline, which has quite the literary history.
Lilliput was frequently visited by Irish writer Jonathan Swift. Local tradition states that Swift was in a boat on the lake when he looked back at Lilliput and noticed how small the people looked at that distance. Supposedly this became the inspiration for Gulliver's Travels. Lilliput at the time was called "Nure". but after the success of the book, locals began to refer to the lakeshore as Lilliput. the name stuck and today the area is known as Lilliput.
