Gauchach Gorge Trail

Hiking

Short but demanding: This could be a headline for this tour through the Gauchachschlucht nature reserve. Look forward to paths with an alpine character and narrow trails very close to the river and rocks.

The tour starts at the Wanderparkplatz Burgmühlenweg in Mundelfingen. Even here, you have a great overview of the region. Now you hike towards forests and water. Soon the Gauchach will be at your side. Sometimes it rushes through a narrow gorge, sometimes the riverbed is wider. And you observe the changes up close. In the last part of the hike, you will need your mountain legs. You walk back to the Wanderparkplatz via a strenuous ascent.

To fully enjoy your tour in the Gauchachschlucht, sure-footedness, a head for heights, and sturdy footwear are required. Narrow footbridges and wild paths await you. You should hold small children by the hand during the hike. You can inquire about the current trail conditions in advance at the Hüfingen Tourist Information.

Fairytale beautiful scenery there, but please visit only with good shoes as there are some slippery spots and the paths change depending on the height of the water level.

Gauchach Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

Absolutely fantastic and recommended for the summer months. With a lot of water, there is a risk of wet feet in some places.

Do not walk when wet or one to two days after heavy rain, as the clay and marl turn into slippery soap and it's a huge, slippery mess.

In addition, it gets dark earlier in the gorge and still has ice in it, for example, now (end of March).

The narrow paths near the bank, often located under a protruding rock face, sometimes even going directly through the water, are the spice of a hiking tour through adventurously appearing canyons. Every step is taken anew, considered, and yet sometimes you end up splashing your shoes into the water. This way, the path never becomes boring, with increased hiking pleasure.

Short and awesome 🥰😎 The access is via a wide path down into the gorge...and that's where things really get going...narrow paths, very narrow paths...over tree trunks, slippery and muddy sections, sometimes quite impassable...and at the end of the gorge you even get coffee and cake 🥰 Then it goes back up on a wide path 😉

Very scenic short hike, which can also have tricky spots depending on the water level of the Gauchach and after heavy rainfall. Presumably "frequented by tourists" during holiday periods and at weekends. Approximately at KM 3.8 was a catered hut situated in the gorge.

On the Gauchach Gorge Trail

A wonderful, challenging trail through the Gauchach Gorge.
You often had to be careful to stay on the trail and avoid slipping.

And again it was a gourmet path today. We walked along the Gauchach over narrow paths and stones. The path was mostly wet, very muddy in parts. The path was very broken in several places, we had to be extremely careful not to slip. In spite of this, or precisely because of this, the 85 points awarded by the Wanderinstitut …

Very nice round through the Gauchach Gorge.
However, it is also a bit demanding.
You have to go over narrow ledges, through the water and up various stairs.
It can be a bit slippery so I would recommend trekking poles.
But all in all very nice and a wonderful natural circuit.
With a stop at the Burgmühle.

This tour is really only recommended after several dry days. It's really wet here, and the rock is slippery and slick. A broken bridge requires climbing.

Exhausting, but very beautiful. At times you had to scramble quite a bit and the ground was slippery. Still manageable without much difficulty if you look where you step. We had a lot of fun and Shiva thought the many splashing spots were great.

Very nice tour.
Lonely paths (Thursday morning), some of them directly along the water.
A place to stop for refreshments almost at the end.
