Valgrisenche – Rifugio Chalet de l'Epée

This tour begins in the center of Valgrisenche and winds through meadows and woods, climbing the slope with a series of switchbacks immersed in a dense fir forest.

The climb then continues parallel to Lake Beauregard, a large artificial lake built in the 1950s for hydroelectric power generation, now perfectly integrated into the Alpine landscape. Its turquoise waters reflect the surrounding peaks and accompany you, along with the Dora di Valgrisenche River, alternating between flowing sections and more panoramic passages until you reach Usellières, the starting point of the classic route to the refuge.

From here, continue through a magnificent forest of monumental larch trees and quickly reach the stone houses of Alpe Arolla. Continue towards Arp Nouvaz, through pastures and high-altitude views, to Alpe Epée and, shortly beyond, to the Chalet de l'Epée refuge, where you can take a break and recharge your batteries before returning along the same route you came up.
