Do you love gentle meadows, baroque palace gardens, and imposing moated castles? Then you'll especially enjoy this route.

You start right at Hovestadt Castle, whose baroque park with its strictly defined axes and hedge theater immediately catches the eye. After just a few pedal strokes, you'll be accompanied by open meadows, groves of trees, and the tranquil floodplains of the Ahse River. A perfect setting to get into the flow.

Between Hultrop and Lippborg, a short detour to the "Ahsewiesen" observation tower is worthwhile. From the top, you can enjoy the expansive view over renaturalized river landscapes and the colorful birdlife. Continuing along the Lippe floodplains, serene panoramas repeatedly unfold before you reach the imposing Assen moated castle. This Renaissance complex with its moats and mature trees exudes history and Westphalian architectural style.

On the return journey, the tour leads through the Lippe meadows to Herzfeld and past the impressive pilgrimage basilica of St. Ida. Then you arrive back in Hovestadt.
