My last day in Finland, what a shame. But before we got on the ferry, there was a nice walk for Greta, who now has to go 30 hours without a walk. But after so many days in the middle of nature - and three more to come - I think it's a reasonable price. I've put together what you need to bear in mind when hiking in Finland with a dog below, and for all of you Greta fans, there are lots of extra pictures of her today. Incidentally, this little walk is perfect to do before or after the ferry ride. It's scenically beautiful - Seurasaari is a small island off Helsinki, connected to the mainland by a bridge. Finally some sea, although today it was as quiet as the many lakes we've been hiking along over the last few days. For the lady, there was also an insight into Finnish building and living culture, which is on display here in the open-air museum. And at the end we did a little tour of Helsinki so that Greta had something to think about. That was simply a wonderful trip 🥰 ———————————— Further information: 🏥 Entry with a dog: To enter Finland with a dog, your darling needs an EU pet passport, a valid rabies vaccination and deworming 24 to 120 hours before entry (must be entered in the vaccination record by the vet) 🚢 Arrival: Dogs are allowed to travel on the ferry from Lübeck-Travemünde to Helsinki. There are special cabins where dogs are allowed. There are sandboxes outside on deck for doing their business. Tip: If you teach your dog to pee on command beforehand, that is very helpful! 🌲Nature: Finland is a paradise for dogs! So much nature, so much forest and lakes and water everywhere. Pleasant temperatures make it perfect. ⛺️ Overnight stays: Dogs are almost always allowed on campsites and in hotels, but it varies in restaurants. But most Finns like dogs, at least Greta was often greeted with a loving smile. 🦮 Leash requirement: Leashes are mandatory in cities, but not in the countryside. Between March 1st and August 19th, dogs must be kept on a leash even in the wild, or at least kept in such a way that they can be put on a leash immediately if necessary. Dogs must always be kept on a leash in national parks. 🥩 Into the wild: Good food = healthy, happy dog. We had the food and snacks from @Carnilove with us. Greta loves it!
After a delicious lunch, we set off to discover the next island - Seurasaari. There are beautiful forest areas, beaches and even a museum there 😍 A place that invites you to linger 🥰
