Hirschegg to Mittelberg: Oberer Höhenweg – Kleinwalsertal

The Upper High Trail is a panoramic trail below the Heuberg and Walmendingerhorn mountains, offering magnificent views of the Kleinwalsertal mountains. Several rest and refreshment stops are available along this easy hike.

The scenic hiking trail starts at the Heubergbahn mountain station and leads through spruce and sycamore forests and across meadows on the slopes of the Heuberg, past the Sonna Alp and the Bühlalpe. After the Bühlalpe, the trail continues along a paved serpentine path between shady fern forests and mountain meadows via the Hofstatt to Mittelberg. Alternatively, a less steep trail leads from the Bühlalpe via the Erleboden down into the valley. Panoramic views from the Kanzelwand to the Wildental and Gemsteltal valleys are offered throughout the entire hike—it's not for nothing that the high trail is also called a panoramic trail.

Due to the numerous access and dismount options, the hike is ideal for families with children or active seniors. If the descent via Bühlape to Mittelberg is too far for you, you can use the Zaferna chairlift as an alternative. Those who want to extend the hike can continue along the high trail to Baad.
