This route was planned by komoot.
It was forecast to rain all day today and we were already preparing for a day of reading in the holiday apartment. But it was only a short shower and we decided to go for a short hike. We go to the bus stop, which is not far from the apartment, and take the bus to Klobenstein center, which is quite small. From there we hike towards the earth pyramids, which unfortunately can hardly be seen because it is very hazy. We continue to the Maria Saal pilgrimage church, a cute little church. In the Gasthaus Maria Saal we drink a cappuccino and eat a very tasty apple strudel. Since the weather is quite unstable, we go back the same way and are rewarded with great views of the earth pyramids. When we arrived in Klobenstein it got really cold and we decided to take the bus back to the holiday apartment. We were then able to drink coffee on the terrace. It was a nice tour with my favorite person.
With the 🚌 to Meran, from there with the 🚂 to Bolzano. From there with the 🚠 to Oberbozen and then with the Rittnerbahn to Klobenstein. And then hiked to the earth pyramids and on to Maria Saal. Nice hike with wonderful views.
The outward route (GPX data from the tourist office) was rather disappointing, running largely parallel to the road. I spontaneously planned the return route myself using Komoot. It was very beautiful.
"Arrival" with the cable car from Bozen to Oberbozen, continue with the Rittenbahn to Klobenstein - beautiful views! From there follow the signs to the earth pyramids on foot; unfortunately a lot of distance along the road.
Saturday, September 16th: Greetings from beautiful South Tyrol ❤️! Today we took “new” paths. Our goal today was the earth pyramids 😍😍 on the Ritten. First we took the bus to Meran train station, where we changed to the train to Bolzano. Once there, we walked 🥾 to the nearby cable car, which runs every 4 minutes on the Ritten (large gondolas). We were able to see the first earth pyramids 😍 during the cable car ride. When we arrived at the Ritten, we changed to the narrow-gauge railway to Klobenstein. The ride was nice, but not as spectacular as it was advertised. Our hike 🥾 to the earth pyramids 😍 began in Klobenstein. Unfortunately, the hiking trail 🥾 first went for a long time through Klobenstein and another small town and thus until just before the actual earth pyramids 😍, which can finally be admired from a good distance in the forest. We were really lucky at the earth pyramids 🍀 and caught a "time window" where the two viewing platforms were pleasantly empty 👍🏼👍🏼. Because on the way back 🥾 to Klobenstein, several large guided tour groups met us 😮. Since we rarely go without a break, the first café after the earth pyramids 😍 was ours, where we served delicious curd cheese strudel 😋. We took the same route back to Klobenstein. Our conclusion: The earth pyramids 😍 are very beautiful, with more time in advance we could have optimized the route 🥴.
