Church of Saint Urban

Highlight • Religious Site

The mountain village of Molina is part of the municipality of Fumane. In Molina, the first religious building dates back to the end of the 15th century, but its origins are probably even older. In the 16th century, the building was remodeled and expanded. Between 1904 and 1920, it was remodeled again and acquired its current appearance.
The bell tower, now separated from the parish church, once formed a single complex with the old 16th century church.

Valley of the Veraghi Mills

Highlight • Historical Site

currently functioning testimony of an ancient peasant economy, based on the milling activity of cereals from the territories of Valpolicella and western Lessinia. The structure was part of a complex of 17 mills, located in series along the "vajo", a deeply embedded valley on whose bottom the water of the springs located upstream of the town flowed, and still flows. The presence of perennial running water allowed to operate the mills, transforming the hydraulic energy into mechanical energy through a large wheel with trays, located outside the building, and a set of gears and cogwheels that transferred the movement to the grinding wheel placed inside the structure.

Church of Saints Marziale and Giovanni

Highlight • Religious Site

Today's building of the church of San Marziale, apart from the collapse of the bell tower and the demolition of the access steps, is basically the one resulting from a renovation carried out between the second half of the fifteenth century and the first decades of the sixteenth century. It has a Latin cross plan with a single nave, two side chapels and a square apse. The façade is a hut with a simple rectangular entrance, on which the open eye is found after the pastoral visit of 1541. The monotonous linearity of the north and south walls, even without windows, is interrupted by the protrusion of the two side chapels. To the east is the square apse with adjoining sacristy on the south side. The interior reproduces the perimeter structure with a single nave, ending through the triumphal arch in the square apse with a cross vault and the two side chapels with altars dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and the Virgin of the Rosary (the latter originally named after Sant'Agata); the roof of the nave is trussed. In addition to the splendid polyptych, painted by Francesco Badile around 1535 with the wooden statues of San Giovanni Battista, San Marziale and Sant'Antonio Abate, precious documents are the large pieces of frescoes present on the triumphal arch, on the walls and on the vault of the 'apse
