This trail is rated as moderate. While not technically challenging, it involves significant elevation changes, making it a good workout. Hikers should have a reasonable level of fitness and wear sturdy shoes.
As the name suggests, this is a loop trail. It offers a circular route, bringing you back to your starting point without retracing your steps.
The terrain varies, winding through woodlands and open areas. You can expect a mix of paths that might include some sloping sections and potentially rocky parts, especially on ascents and descents. Sure-footedness is recommended.
The trail features several notable highlights. You'll pass the historic Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte, cross charming structures like the Wooden Bridge Over the Ossena Stream and the Wooden Bridge Over the Cialata Stream, and see the Ponte de le Cune. Other points include the Water Collection Basin of the Casera, an Abandoned Refuge, and the Church of San Giorgio. Don't miss the Via Crucis of the Sanctuary of Madonna del Monte.
Yes, due to its elevated position, the trail offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding regions. Keep an eye out for scenic overlooks, especially as you gain elevation.
Trails in this region are generally enjoyable during spring and autumn when temperatures are milder. Summer can be hot, so an early start is advisable. Winter hiking might be possible but check local conditions for snow or ice, especially at higher elevations.
While specific regulations for this exact trail are not provided, many trails in similar natural areas allow dogs, often requiring them to be kept on a leash. It's always best to check local signage or official park websites for the most current rules regarding pets.
There is no information indicating that permits or entrance fees are required to hike this specific trail. However, it's always a good practice to verify with local tourism offices or park authorities before your visit, especially if you plan to access specific historical sites.
Specific parking details for the trailhead are not provided in the tour data. However, trails leading to sanctuaries often have designated parking areas nearby. We recommend checking local maps or community information for the most convenient parking options near the starting point.
Yes, the route intersects with several other official trails. You'll find sections that overlap with the Percorso Circolare Santuario Madonna del Monte, Cammino di San Cristoforo - Tappa 2, Bosco Grande, and Truoi del Cinghiale, among others.
While the trail itself is in a natural setting, areas surrounding sanctuaries often have small villages or towns nearby. These typically offer local cafes, restaurants, and various accommodation options. We recommend checking for services in the closest populated areas to the trailhead.
March in Aviano km12 with my beautiful daughter Cinzia🌈🌞
Thank you 😀 I've been traveling around Montereale and Vittorio Veneto for almost 30 years doing road, mtb, trailer and trekking... and still today I discover something new and I get excited like 30 years ago... 💪💪💪
Easy walk starting just outside Aviano, the route takes us first to visit the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte di Marsure / Madona da Mont di Marsuris, then after a couple of hours after an ups and downs in the woods, with glimpses of the Friulian plain, we arrive to the Church of San Giorgio, from here you can admire a beautiful 360 degree panorama, then in half an hour you return to the starting point.
