If you're not up for the elevation gain but still want a great view, then this hike from the Oberalp Pass via Sedrun down to Disentis is the right choice. It starts at the highest point of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway – the Oberalp Pass – and hikes along the sun-drenched slopes of the Surselva.
From the pass at over 2,000 meters, you'll still be fresh and energetic as you tackle the first and only significant climb of the tour, up to the Tiarms Pass. From there, it's worth taking a look back at Lake Oberalp and the surrounding area: wonderful alpine flora can be seen here.
You'll now hike downhill through many alpine pastures, passing numerous rustic mountain huts where you can stop for a break. If you or your hiking companions don't want to walk the entire route, the tour can easily be shortened, as the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway also serves the small villages along the way.
