Townwalk Heusden

Be surprised by the charming fortified town of Heusden, one of the eleven fortified towns of the Zuiderwaterlinie (Southern Water Line). This walk takes you past historical sites, old ramparts, and charming restaurants and cafes.

The route starts at hiking junction 80b and takes you along the fortifications surrounding the town. Along the way, you'll encounter grazing cows and enjoy beautiful views from the ramparts. You'll also pass the three "Standerdmolen" (Standard Mills). During the occupation, these mills ensured the town was self-sufficient and ensured its residents were fed. After visiting the mills, take some time to relax in the Heemtuin de Meulenwerf (Meulenwerf Heritage Garden).

After all this natural beauty and historical sights, it's time to relax with a cup of coffee, lunch, or a refreshing beer at BOEI35. This restaurant undoubtedly has the most beautiful view of Heusden. You can also rent a stand-up paddleboard or sloop here if you'd like to get out on the water after your walk.

Heusden is easiest to reach by car. Parking is limited in the village itself, so it's best to park your car in the parking lots outside the ramparts.
