Hiking

This varied 4-peak tour takes you through the rolling hills around St. Georgen im Attergau. Light forests, open fields and meadows, as well as challenging climbs await you – always with views of Lake Attersee and the mountains of the Salzkammergut. If you enjoy longer distances and relaxing summit moments, you'll definitely get your money's worth here.

Starting right in the center of St. Georgen, the tour initially takes you leisurely out of the village. In the mixed forest behind Alkersdorf, the trail noticeably climbs. The first major highlight is the Buchberg: From its summit, the view sweeps over green meadows to the luminous Lake Attersee. After the descent, the trail continues via Palmsdorf, where the landscape opens up wide.

The trail climbs again along the Ackerlingsbach stream, this time to the Kronberg – here, a bench invites you to take a rest and enjoy the panoramic view. After the descent to Wildenhag and a quiet passage, you reach the steep Hubert Gantioler Trail. This takes you to the Lichtenberg mountain with its observation tower and inn. Finally, you hike back to St. Georgen via the Koglberg mountain.

St. Georgen is easily accessible by car and train. Along the way, you'll find several places to stop for refreshments, such as the Gasthaus Danter on the Lichtenberg mountain, but you should still bring provisions and plenty of water, especially on warm days.
