Gravel riding
From Feldkirch train station, you cycle along the Ill River towards Illspitz, where the Ill and Rhine meet – right in the heart of the Bangs-Matschels European Nature Reserve. The route continues through wide floodplains, along quiet paths and small bridges, until you reach the Frutz River. You cycle along the clear river to Rankweil – always with a view of the Montafon mountains.
Now comes the climb: a pleasant ride, at almost 650 meters above sea level. You skirt the Hoher Sattel, circle it partly through shady forests, and enjoy expansive views – the view across to Schruns is particularly beautiful. Soon after, the descent to Göfis awaits, which you cycle down on good ground before the Ill River accompanies you back towards Feldkirch. Finally, a detour to Feldkirch's old town with its narrow streets and cozy cafés is worthwhile – perfect for a break after the tour.
