"Sun over Hammershus" is a beautiful route along the west coast of Bornholm. It takes you from Rønne through enchanted forests, past quaint fishing villages and imposing cliffs, up to the majestic castle ruins of Hammershus in the north.
You start in Nordskoven in Rønne North. You'll cycle through a magnificent forest with idyllic forest lakes and mysterious industrial monuments. In Hasle, you can take your first break and explore the lively harbor.
The route then continues along the coast, just a few meters from the sea. The further north you go, the hillier it becomes. In the rugged landscape of the Hammeren Peninsula lies Hammershus Fortress, the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe. It is most beautiful here at sunset.
After enjoying this magical moment at the castle ruins, you cycle back to Rønne. You can either take the direct route and follow the road or cycle back to the starting point the same way you came.
