Hiking
From Brig, follow the course of the Saltina River to the Saltina Bridge. Here, a beautiful path begins along the river. The subsequent climb to Ried-Brig is steep, but the view from the high plateau over the Rhone Valley is breathtaking. After a short break, you hike through forests and meadows, past the old village center and the Hotel Simplon, until you arrive back in Brig.
This hike is particularly recommended in spring and autumn, as the shady location and the waters of the Saltina ensure pleasant temperatures. The trail is easy to walk, but a good level of fitness is required. The Saltina Gorge, which you cross on a beautiful, level path along the water, is particularly beautiful. You will also be impressed by Stockalper Castle, a three-towered regional landmark located on the old Simplon road in Brig-Glis.
The hike begins and ends at Brig Train Station, which is accessible by public transport.
