The second version of the Barbarossa Loop (first version here: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2172880018) leads both through the Barbarossa town itself and from there to the rose village of Löhndorf. Along the panoramic trails, forests, meadows, and sweeping views beckon. It sounds like a delightful experience amidst enchanting nature – and it truly is. Sinzig itself, with its rich history and warm hospitality, is another major draw.

Our tour started today in Sinzig, an independent town on the Middle Rhine in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Barbarossa Loop is a signposted circular hike. Since you go through a few towns on this round (Sinzig, Bad Bodendorf, Löhndorf and Westum), the route is quite asphalt-heavy in parts. There are two Barbarossa Loops around Sinzig: the green and the blue. We hiked the blue loop today. The tour starts in Sinzig and first runs through Bad Bodendorf with its idyllic half-timbered houses. Continuing over the Mühlenberg, you reach the rose village of Löhndorf. The trail leads through open fields and past horse farms via Westum back to Sinzig.
