This route was planned by komoot.
We parked in a small parking lot (50 NOK, payment in cash or via PayPal, among other things). First we went steadily but manageably uphill on a farm track. After the farm track ended, the ground conditions changed, but everything was easy to "walk" on. We had to "master" several river crossings... first over two wooden footbridges and later over stones lying in the river. We didn't dare cross a river. Depending on how much water the river carries, you might end up with wet feet😊. On the way back we discovered a small trail that shortened the route a bit.
Waterproof footwear is also very advantageous in summer 😉
Yesterday we found a nice pitch in the forest next to the Otra River. Fishing 🎣 and rowing boat 🚣🏻♀️ can be used free of charge for overnight stays. Trout plentiful but very small, so we were luckier with the mackerel in the fjord 🐟 Since we liked the place very much, we decided to stay here one more night. Today we have planned a hike to Gloppefossen, which you can easily walk from the pitch, the weather is currently a dream with 26° and a cloudless sky 🥰🙋🏻♀️🙋🏽♂️🇳🇴🚌.
A great, sometimes challenging hike over some steep and rocky stretches to Gloppefossen. On the way back, Finn 🐕 gave the direction and showed us a shortcut through the shady forest.❤️🇳🇴
We know from friends and travel reports that there is so much more to come, but today was exactly how we imagine Norway. Picture-perfect landscapes, wild rivers, waterfalls. And our campsite today is right in the middle of it. That's how we imagined it. 😍 The weather was terrible until late afternoon, so we thought long and hard about whether we should skip the hiking spot we had planned for today. But where should we go then? The weather app showed a bad weather front for all of southern Norway. We would have had to add wings to our camper to escape it. So we checked in at the forest campsite via PayPal and waited for a gap in the sky. It's hard to believe that not only did it actually come, but that it turned the muddy, uncomfortable weather outside into a real sun festival. Bright blue skies and sunshine accompanied us on the way to the Gloppefossen waterfall. If we don't have a good deal with the weather gods, then I don't know what will. After almost 2.5 hours of hiking we were back at the camper and treated ourselves to one of the 3 family packs of our delicious Danish potato flødder.
It really is a region with many superlatives, almost like a fairy tale. The hike was not a circular route, but the sight of the waterfall makes up for it. At the beginning we crossed huge areas of blueberries. Probably 14 days too early, because then we could have taken tons to Rostock. There was some evidence of moose. We found some fresh droppings and traces of hooves on the trail. We would have liked to have photographed one and didn't need a photo from the tour descriptions. ❤️👍 Life is life😉
