Hiking
On this short but crisp circular hike from Bad Bertrich, we take you on a journey through time into the fiery history of the Vulkaneifel. Look forward to Stone Age caves, deep red lava walls and breathtaking views.
You've barely taken your first steps when you start to feel the altitude that takes you up the Viktoriahöhe. In just over a kilometer and a half you climb almost 200 meters in altitude. As a reward, you can relax in the oasis of peace with a magnificent view of the valley on one of the wooden benches or in the small hut.
For the next discoveries you stay at one level and immerse yourself in the explosive past of Bad Bertrich. Imposing lava formations bear witness to volcanic activity around 50,000 years ago. Nine chimneys have significantly shaped the landscape here and now leave you standing in amazement in front of a meter-high wall made of cooled lava.
At the Falkenlay you can enjoy another wonderful view and look into the exciting Stone Age grottos before you head back downhill via the Dachsloch to the Ueßbach in Bad Bertrich.

A wonderful way 👍. It is only 7 km, but they are crisp. Don't underestimate the time it takes to get there. The views, rest areas and what there is to see are too beautiful (basalt wall, etc.)
