The tour begins at the hiking car park at the fork in the road in Pottenstein. The parking machine didn't want any money from me. It goes past the Teufelshöhle into the Klumpertal. Shortly before the ponds I followed the signpost to the Jägersteig, it goes steeply uphill to the left to a beautiful group of rocks. Then it goes back to the path and it goes past the ponds near the former Klumpermühle. Then it goes uphill to Kühlenfels, the last section is the beautiful Lindenallee with the devotional path, which consists of seven sculptures. On the edge of the village I followed the signpost to the Mariengrotte. It goes through Kühlenfels, below the castle on the right. The way back then goes via Kirchenbirkig and Weidenloh back to Pottenstein.
From the car park, the tour leads through the Weihersbachtal ("Yellow Crossbar") past the summer toboggan run and the Schöngrundsee to the Teufelshöhle. Continue past the trout ponds and the rock formation "Weihersbacher Männchen" to the Schüttersmühle and into the Klumpertal. Here the marking changes and we follow the "Blue Crossbar". After a short ascent we reach Kühlenfels (castle), from here we follow the "Green Ring" markings and come to Kirchenbirkig (with the late Gothic church of St. John). Via Weidenloh, past the Deinzers-Kreuz ("Blue Cross") and through the Hummerstal we come back to Pottenstein.
Went on a wonderful tour through the Klumpertal today 🔝👍😊... the paths were varied 🏔🌲🌳🌊💒🍻 and that in the best hiking weather 🌞... thank you @Söhni 🏃 for the inspiration... I didn't know that path before 👍👍👍 After the hike we went to the Forsterstube in Haselbrunn... the inn is a converted cowshed in a cozy atmosphere which is also known for delicious food 😋
Very nice hike through the Klumpertal from Pottenstein. Even though we were dripping wet from Kirchenbirkich, we didn't miss the opportunity to run the off-grip section through the knee-high wet meadow with a wonderful rocky landscape shortly before the end of the tour.
Unfortunately, there was high fog and it was quite frosty🥶 hardly any hikers around.
Today we went on a very nice hike from Pottenstein, including the Skywalk 🪂 and the Devil's Cave 👹 (a very nice way to cool off at 30 degrees). Of course, there's also a 3D video 😉 https://www.relive.com/view/v1OwKyxxeEO
Valley and Mountain Tour in Franconian Switzerland The Waldershof Wednesday hikers of the Fichtelgebirge Association are drawn to Franconian Switzerland once a year. This year, the Klumpertal valley and the Säger-Bräu beer garden were the main destinations on a stunning valley and mountain tour. The 15 FGV members started in Pottenstein and initially walked along beautiful paths along the Weiherbach stream and the Schöngrundsee lake, past the Teufelshöhle cave to the Schüttersmühle mill, the entrance to the deeply incised, romantic, rock-lined Klumpertal valley. It is one of the most beautiful and untouched valleys in Franconian Switzerland and takes its name from the now-defunct Klumpermühle (the clattering of a mill wheel was once called "klumpern"). After the Mittelmühle, there was a short, steep climb to the easily accessible upper Jägersteig trail with its impressive rock formations. The hike then took a leisurely return to the valley before beginning the climb toward Kirchenbirkig. After the Drachenfelsen rock, the Waldershofers followed the contemplative and meditative devotional path, an avenue lined with ancient trees, up to Kühlenfels – a short detour to the Mariengrotte (Grotto) was a must. Mainly through the forest, on partially overgrown paths, they reached Kirchenbirkig and finally Weidenloh for a highly recommended stop at the Säger-Bräu beer garden. Well-fortified, the remaining, varied four kilometers were a mere formality. On the descent to the parking lot, they enjoyed the previously unknown view of Pottenstein.
