Set off on this adventurous day from the car park in Lavini, which you can reach by car or by bus from Dro. Here you will find a picnic area and toilets.
In the first part you will tackle the via ferrata Rio Salagoni, a route that follows the bed of the river of the same name, with steep sections equipped with ladders firmly fixed to the wall. You will then climb the narrow gorge dug by the Rio Sallagoni in the plain below Castel Drena.
The environment is made suggestive by the succession of waterfalls that accompany the climb and by the particular and lush vegetation that characterizes this hidden world. Two Tibetan bridges add a bit of adrenaline to the experience.
In the second part you will take the via ferrata Caduti di Nassirya that takes you through the second section of the Rio Sallagoni gorge. Here you walk in a narrow gorge with water accompanying your every step until you come out again near the countryside at the foot of the castle from where you return to the starting point.

Beautiful via ferrata along the Rio Sallagoni and its gorge, which ends at the top right in front of the Castello di Drena. Here you really get a phenomenal nature experience right next to the waterfalls of the small stream and its stone walls, so a must-do for all via ferrata fans. The path is relatively easy, mainly A/B, maximum C. The steel cables seem very new and are in top condition. The entrance is very close to the car park, which is also free (as of 01/2025).
Since it rained quite heavily this morning, we first took a trip to the old town of Arco to shop for some climbing gear – it's a good thing there have been so few rainy days so far, which gave us this opportunity 😅🙈 When the skies cleared in the afternoon, we headed to the Via Ferrata Rio Salagoni, a via ferrata through a deep gorge that, although not particularly challenging, often leaves you speechless and breathless due to the many, very intense impressions it offers 😃
1 Ferrata solo I came back here on this simple via ferrata because I already knew it, I had to get close to a friend who is waiting for me in these areas, and I wanted to do a double today. What can I say? Ferrata that can be done to approach the world of via ferratas, the only flaw is the suspension bridges that dance like I don't know. After all, always beautiful and exciting, the 🏰 castel drains always a blast. At the end of the tour, if you want, there is a bar to refresh yourself 💪🍻 more info etc on instagram or facebook 💪
Beneath the castle 🏰 of Drena, a short but deep gorge runs through the rock. The short, moderately difficult Rio Salagoni trail leads through it. It's cool and shady there, with the water rushing beneath you. A very special trail with a spread-foot approach over the gorge. Two wire rope bridges and a narrow crevice with a huge chock. A blast of fun, even for skilled children—and for us! 🤭🤣😊
